Frequently Asked Questions

What is Integrative Medicine?

An evidence-based healthcare approach that combines both conventional and complementary therapies to improve your body’s balance and function, using personalized strategies based on your unique needs for physical, mental and spiritual vitality.

These interventions are focused on treating the underlying cause of the problem, not just masking the symptoms.

Integrative Medicine is a specialized discipline where the treating clinician understands the science and inter-relationships among both conventional and complementary therapies - it is quite distinct from others that work in an integrated setting.  In fact, the actual discipline of integrative medicine is often mistaken for integrated care, a general term describing a group of different practitioners in the same facility.

What training do you have?

This is a very important question, as it can be hard for patients to understand true healthcare professionals from misleading designations.

Most importantly, with an active pharmacist license, Tara is a regulated healthcare professional with the College of Pharmacists and under the Regulated Health Professions Act.

Tara Maltman-Just, B.Sc.(Pharm), MS, ABAAHP, FAARFM, RPh has also received board-certifications, fellowship status, diplomate status, post-secondary, graduate and post-graduate education through Accredited Universities in professional programs with the University of Manitoba's College of Pharmacy and holds a Masters Degree with the Morsani College of Medicine.

As a patient, you have the right and responsibility to ask your provider if they have:
  • accredited university training within a professional health discipline
  • a professional license through a recognized college under the Regulated Health Professions Act

What are the benefits?

At vitality integrative medicine, we believe that you know your body best. If something ‘feels off’, even in the face of normal test results, we will listen to your concerns and work to help you feel your best.

You are not a number, you are not a disease; you are a person whose concerns count.

Many of our patients report feeling left behind in the current healthcare system, unfortunately. They may feel rushed at routine appointments, or may be waiting months to see specialists. They may have seen many practitioners, tried multiple therapies - but never had meaningful results.

The time we take to listen makes us well-primed to integrate information and uncover relationships in your body that may not have been previously identified. Review our listing of specific health issues and medical conditions to see how we can help.

We highly esteem collaboration and communication among other healthcare professionals in the conventional and complementary fields, and are pleased to work with any member your healthcare team to help you to feel your best.
